Overcast reading

School is winding down. The grades recorded. My graduate evaluations complete. When the weather is rainy and overcast, there is little to do besides, eat, sleep, talk to the cat, care for my plants, or read. I’ve been doing some light, fun reading. I played the piano for an hour (sorry neighbors). I even wroteContinue reading “Overcast reading”

Studio work

My goals for the studio this weekend were to add details to current work and create a new piece. Despite the heat I made progress. I still haven’t worked out the details on how to describe this relief work (I know, I will sort that outing time). Here is a preview of what I’m workingContinue reading “Studio work”

First Semester Bibliography

It’s great to choose what to study. For my first semester I decided to concentrate on my my favorite thing: painting. My semester Visual Culture project is broken into 3 parts. MFA adventures

New painting

I started a new painting. I love starting something new. It’s completely exhilarating. I love solving visual problems. it’s the finishing of a painting that isn’t as fun. Knowing when to add more paint and when to stop is a delicate balance. This painting is NOT finished. I also love to paint shiny things. MyContinue reading “New painting”

Visual Culture project

I did it. I submitted the proposal for my visual culture project for my first semester at Vermont College of Fine Arts. I am thrilled to finally begin this journey. I have wanted to work toward an MFA in Visual Art for so long, I can’t remember a time when the idea wasn’t bouncing aroundContinue reading “Visual Culture project”

Art conversations

Today was a great day for art conversations. I had a conference call about my summer residency. My questions were answered. The call also stimulated some questions for the next residency conversation. I also began a new painting. The piece is in the earliest stage. I simply blocked in the large areas of color. IContinue reading “Art conversations”

MFA decisions

I was accepted into the MFA program of Visual Arts by Vermont College of Fine Art. I am humbled and honored to have been accepted. It is a low residency program which means I can work in the comfort of my own studio, continue working my fabulous day job, and spend time with my family.Continue reading “MFA decisions”
